Zoe Brooks and Gerry Guy designed the Nurtural Bitless BridleNurtural Horse is a family business, owned be Zoe Brooks and her husband Gerry Guy. We live at Guys' Acres, 500 of the most beautiful acres on earth, in Worthington, a tiny part of the City of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada.   We run our business as we run our family: with honesty, respect and lots of laughter.

We collaborate with our many horses on product design.
Once a design works for us , a selection of friends and coaches assist us with evaluation and testing.  Zoe writes the patents, brochures, web site. Gerry is the master horseman, and makes all things possible.

Although we visited farms as children and share a love of nature, neither of us had owned horses before we  bought our farm in 1997.  Like so many first time horse owners, we listened to everyone’s wise advice to get older horses and professional help … and then went out and -bought beautiful young horses to grow up with and love.

"What qualifications do you have to design this bridle?"
The first article published on the Nurtural Bitless Bridle appeared in Horse Canada magazine in November 2005.
One of the questions asked of Zoe for that article was "what qualifications do you have to design this bridle?"
Zoe's quick answer: "A love and understanding of horses. I was born with the love; the understanding came gradually over the past eight years."

The Nurtural No-Bit Bridle was designed through a repeated process of research, design, testing and modification ... until the young horses at Guys' Acres responded well in the hands of novice horse owners.  Zoe filed a patent on the bridle design in September 2005.  Early models were then tested in the Hunter/Jumper Ring by Cathy Inch of Foothills Farm, and comments were gathered from several other equestrians.

This bridle is a practical solution that works. It was designed out of love, not science.  Pressure points and how it actually works  became apparent only from listening to knowledgeable equestrians at the Royal Winter Fair.   One of our early customers said, as he ordered his second bridle, "I keep looking at the dang thing to figure out how it works.  It just does!"

Our bridles are designed and made in Canada!
Our “Bitless Bridle with crossover reinstrap stabilizer” is a unique design different from any other bitless bridle.
It is protected by 3 patents:  Canadian Patent CA2522524; Worldwide Patent Pending PCT/CA2006/001597;  US Patent Pending 12/066,167.

Nurtural Horse was originally owned by sisters Zoe Brooks and Marilyn Burris from Northern Ontario

Marilyn lives in Hailebury, part of the the Tri-Towns, north of North Bay.  Marilyn looked after much of the early organization, online and telephone support .  Marilyn left on leave in early 2006 while she recovers from ovarian cancer.  She is doing VERY well.  You can send best wishes to marilyn@nurturalhorse.com

As Gerry became more involved in the business, and Marilyn less so ... we changed the ownership to reflect that.  Marilyn will always be part of our adventures and dreams.  She usually attends the Royal Winter Fair in Toronto each year.  Please stop by to say hello.
