Nurtural Horse Training!

 Created by Camtasia Studio 3

Laugh and learn with a group of horse lovers in an action-packed weekend!
Trainers aged 15 to 50+ with mixed experience take 4 young horses
from first round pen lesson to first rides!
Almost 2 full hours of video.

Ideal for the new horse owner
or
for those new to natural round pen training!
These young horses were completely untrained.
These training concepts are not dependent on the Nurtural Bridle.

This is not a "Do what we say" or "Train by number" system.
Watch, laugh and learn!

Nurtural Horse is not about 'being perfect'; we are about 'getting better'.   We care about horse lovers who constantly want to get better,
without setting a limit on where ‘getting better’ takes them.
Our goal is to help novice horse owners improve and develop their relationship and their skills with their horses by nurturing with kindness.
(We are not claiming to be perfect
or concerned about impressing the perfectionists.  Sorry.)

________________________________________________________

This DVD is intended to give you an overview of the basic concepts of natural horsemanship.  The almost-two-hours of video shows the round pen lessons and first rides for 4 horses with different temperaments - under the direction of 5 different trainers and riders.  You can hear the trainers working with the horses; voice-over commentary provides additional information, identifies each step and provide timelines.

The Nurtural Horse Training concept was developed by Zoe brooks and her husband Gerry Guy at Guys' Acres, their 500 acre farm near Sudbury Ontario Canada.

"We are horse lovers - you know, those people who are born with an inexplicable love of horses as a core part of our very being.  Our personal dream of owning land and horses came true nine years ago.  If we had known then what we know now about handling, training and relating to horses, we would have made fewer mistakes, suffered fewer injuries - and become as happy as we are now with our horses a whole lot sooner.

This is what we hope to pass on to you thought these DVDs - how to nurture your relationship with your horse and take small confident steps forward to see your dreams come true."

The Nurtural Horse approach to training builds on the very definition of the word nurture – to improve and develop with kindness.  We focus on the emotional connection of “request and reward” in addition to the physical techniques of “pressure and release”.  We bring together horses and horse lovers – from a range of ages, backgrounds and temperaments.

We divide the training process into small steps so the viewer can see how different horses and different handlers react at each step.

Here's what will you see in the DVD:

The Nurtural Training DVD shows multiple horses and handlers, horse lovers varied in age from 15 to 50+ with different backgrounds and experience levels handling horses.  The  training process is divided into four clear small natural steps, so viewers can see how different horses and different handlers react at each step.  Each step is emphasized with a different horse.

Four Young Horses - Four Simple Stages

Pearl is a sweet, spirited 2 ½ year old Canadian filly.   She has had lots of love and handling, but has not seen a saddle pad or saddle yet -  or been to the round pen.

Pearl had her first trip to "Zoe's Nurtural Circle" on Friday, accepted riders on Saturday and was ridden again on Sunday.

Dreamer is a spunky self-confident  2 year old Appaloosa/Quarter Horse
Dreamer was raised at Guys’ Acres with lots of love and handling. She’s been introduced to a saddle pad, but not a saddle. Dreamer had one trip to the round pen – one year ago.
Dreamer had her first trip to "Zoe's Nurtural Circle" on Friday, and accepted her first rider on Saturday.

Paxton is a very friendly 2 ½ year old Canadian stallion.

Paxton has been raised at Guys' Acres since he was six months old - our first stallion.

Paxton had his first trip to "Zoe's Nurtural Circle" on Saturday where he saw a saddle for the first time - and had three riders in his first ever hour-and-a-half lesson!

Noir is a calm, nonchalant 3 ½ year old Canadian Gelding.
He has had lots of love and handling. He’s been introduced to a saddle pad, but not a saddle, and  has not been to the round pen.

Noir had his first trip to "Zoe's Nurtural Circle" on Saturday where had two riders in his first ever hour-and-a-half lesson! Noir was so calm with the process, he was ridden again on Sunday - by three people, and in the open field.

This photo shows Paxton,
a 2 1/2 year old Canadian stallion.  Paxton accepted his very first saddle pad & saddle, and first three riders within an hour, on his first trip to "Zoe's Nurtural Circle".
Within an hour and a half, he had accepted three riders!

The almost-two-hours of video shows the round pen lessons and first rides for 4 horses with different temperaments - under the direction of 5 different trainers and riders.

“Nurtural Horse Training  follows the events of a single weekend, as trainers aged 15 to 50+ took four young horses to their fist round pen lesson, first join up and first riders.  From Friday to Saturday, they had four young horses under saddle for the first time.

Both young fillies, Pearl and Dreamer, accepted riders on their second trip to the round pen.  Noir, the 3 year old gelding, like Paxton, accepted riders on his first lesson!

These simple stages condense the fundamentals of natural horsemanship into a process that can be applied by the busy or novice horse owner.
Always think safety!  Both you and your horse must be ready to enter the roundpen!

If you love something, set it free...

Stage 1: Until you set them free
… the things you do to make your horse safe to handle, eager to please, respectful & attentive.
Teaching barn manners; establishing control in the stall; introducing the saddle pad, saddle & bridle.
Think safety, repetition, and small careful steps.

If it comes back, it's yours forever!...

Stage 2: Until they come back … the things you do to make your horse come to you freely.
Take stock first.  Don’t over-do it.  Help them  understand.  Control with your position and body language. Watch for signs.

Think safety, calm, control, friendly, inviting.

Now you can work together...

Stage 3: Once they are “Yours” …the things you do to get your horse ready to ride.  Solidify your position as leader. Teach them to yield, back up, respond to the bridle, accept a saddle and weight in the stirrups.

Think safety, calm, control, rewarding.

And ride!  Bitless of course!
Stage 4: Nurtural riding … Moving together!
Watch and feel the horse very closely.  Stay calm. Give direction. Take the lead.

Think safety, control, communication, reward.
